Toughened safety glass (TSG) often surprises with its superior bending tensile strength. During production, ordinary float glass is heated to over 600 °C and then cooled abruptly with air. This gives the base glass improved flexural strength and impact resistance. TSG can withstand high pressures and is also resistant to light hammer blows. Nevertheless, a light impact against the corner is enough to break the glass pane into small, non-sharp-edged pieces. A special feature is that these splinters do not pose a risk of injury in overhead glazing.

LSG made to measure
Laminated safety glass (LSG) made of TSG glass represents a particularly resistant and safe variant of safety glass that is used in numerous applications that require high safety standards.
The special feature of laminated safety glass made of toughened safety glass is that it does not disintegrate into sharp shards in the event of breakage, but remains in the glass pane due to its connection with a film. This prevents injuries and makes it an ideal choice for public buildings, schools, hospitals and other facilities where safety is a top priority. In addition, toughened safety glass is also ideal for bespoke glass doors as it provides the necessary security and resistance.
